Commonly called the Japanese red flowering quince.
It produces masses of brilliant red flowers on bare stems in late winter .
This old fashioned plant is easy to grow with very little care.
It forms a dense clump, and can be used as a hedging plant.
It can grow approximately 2 metres and if required, pruning is best carried out in spring after flowering.
