"European Beech"
This stately tree is widely grown in the UK and Europe.
As an individual specimen, it has a broad rounded crown with branches to ground level.
The solid silver-grey trunk has a smooth surface.
The toothed oval leaves emerge light green in spring, maturing to mid-green in summer.
The leaves change to a lovely light copper colour in autumn.
As the old leaves can remain on the plant over winter, this Beech is often used for hedging.
A beautiful specimen for a large garden or park.
Also widely used for bonsai.
