"Saucer Magnolia"
A very popular large shrub to small tree producing masses of flowers on bare branches in late winter.
The flowers are tulip-shaped and are white with a purple stain at the base.
It is an old favourite, and some beautiful examples are seen throughout the suburbs.
It needs a sunny position for masses of blooms.
It has produced many stunning cultivars.
