This is a beautiful magnolia that was bred in New Zealand.
It produces masses of tight goblet-shaped flowers in spring.
The flowers are a very dark purple-red colour on opening, fading slightly as they age.
New plants may take a few years to properly develop the true colour.
The plant has quite a narrow habit and can grow to at least 5M.
It is ideal for a position where space is restricted.
