This variety forms a low spreading shrub rather than a ground covering conifer.
The dense foliage is a deep sea green colour throughout the year except in winter, when it turn a stunning plum-purple colour.
It needs to be planted in an open position for this colour change to occur.
The short branches ascend out from the centre of the plant at a 45 degree angle.
It is ideal in a rockery or when planted in mass they are good for suppressing weeds.
