The short needles are a very dark green colour.
Interesting white buds are formed in winter, making a stunning contrast to the dark green foliage.
The bark becomes cork textured as the plant matures.
It is a favoutite with the bonsai enthusasts.
It is quite slow growing, taking many years to reach 4M high and 1.2M wide.
