This is commonly called the "Black Cypress Pine".
The branches are erect when young, becoming more spreading with age.
The bark is rough and deeply furrowed; the foliage is a bright green.
This species is widespread in eastern Australia along the Great Dividing Range.
In its natural habitat it becomes a tall tree but can be trimmed to suit a suburban garden.
