"NZ Rimu"
As the name suggests, this conifer is endemic to New Zealand.
Like Australia's Huon Pine, it was greatly sought after for timber, but it is now illegal to harvest them in forests.
As it is very slow growing, it can be used as a feature in the garden.
It forms a pyramidal shape with weeping branches.
The foliage is deep green but make take on a bronze colour in cold winter.
Young plants need to be protected from frost.
In the garden a 10 year old may may be less than 2 metres in height.
