"Aleppo Pine".
This pine is from the Mediterranean areas, mainly in coastal or low altitude areas.
It is very hardy for hot and dry conditions, but not tropical climates..
It is too large for most suburban gardens, but is often found in public parks and Botanic gardens.
The most famous specimen is the Lone Pine from Gallipoli and seedlings from this particular specimen have been planted in many War Memorials in Australia.
It forms a very attractive, rounded tree with light green needles.
