Commonly called the "Fern Pine", it has recently been reclassified as Afrocarpus gracilior. I
t can develop a single upright trunk with a dense canopy but in cultivation it is often trimmed to grow into a formal hedge form, or into a large shrub.
In its natural habitat in East Africa it can grow more than 15 metres.
It has lovely dark green, soft needle-like foliage.
It is quite hardy for both sun and shade.
