This is one of the low growing, dwarf, varieties.
It forms a small shrub to approximately 1 metre.
The leaves are about 5 cm long.
The fuzzy new growth has a bronze colour maturing to a glossy dark green above and, lighter below
It is one of the first rhododendrons to flower.
The flower bud are reddish before opening to white with a faint pink border
The red-brown anthers.are a distinctive feature.
