This rhododendron forms a low compact shrub, growing wider than high.
It is covered in masses of red flowers in spring.
These flowers have deep wavy lobes and become lighter in colour in the centre of each petal.
It is regarded as a heat tolerant variety, but still performs best when protected from hot afternoon sun and winds.
It usually grows less than 1 metre tall and 1.5 metres wide.
