It is a compact shrub with rigid dark green needles.
It grows upright at first, becoming rounder with age.
It can be selectively pruned to the traditional Japanese style.
It looks great grown in an oriental-style pot.
Of moderate growth rate, it is capable of reaching more than 1.5M in the first 10 years.
Prefers a sunny position, but will tolerate light shade..
